What We Do

For kids of ages 8-17, Masters of the Dungeon Verse will create enriching role-play stories in a safe virtual setting. Masters of the Dungeon Verse is a place where imaginations soar, guided by our creative, flexible, and trained Game Runners. Our live, interactive, challenge- and empathy-based storytelling promises to inspire creativity, foster growth, and build skills through communication and leadership. We even have a Creative Writing Workshop where we get together to share our work and develop our skills in writing fiction through exercises and live prompts.

Masters of the Dungeon Verse (MDV) is a shared world experience created by Game Runners, storytellers, and teachers with combined decades of experience in role-playing games. Imaginative minds thrive in our original stories, set in lands of our own creation, all within an interconnected universe. Players can see the results of their own and others’ actions in the world around them as the story changes and reacts to them. Our stories are designed to foster social and emotional growth, along with critical thinking, as we introduce new situations, developing healthy interpersonal skills between players and the characters they meet. Game Runners monitor behavior to ensure a safe space for all, while introducing enriching facets of philosophy, history, and varied cultures, all within a fun and engaging story!

What Our Sessions Look Like

Virtual

When meeting virtually, we use two different online platforms: Roll20, and Google Meet. Google Meet’s stability and clarity allows us to communicate through video and audio, while also allowing the Game Runner to share visual and audio resources to enrich the experience. Roll20 is used to host the “tabletop” where we move our character tokens, keep our character information, and take care of all the dice rolls. Players can communicate with video and audio, or take a break from being on camera and communicate with only audio. Typing in the chat is another option that allows players to continue acting while another player talks. A trained Game Runner ties it all together by providing a visual and spoken performance while managing the digital resources that players experience.

In-Person

When we get together in a shared space, MDV provides all of the materials needed to play the game. This means there is no need to secure your own books, dice, tokens, maps, or anything else. We maintain a safe environment where all players feel welcome. Groups are divided by skills, interest, maturity, and general disposition.

Each Game Runner will host their own table where players learn to share a physical space and accommodate the needs and preferences of others. Maps are laid out on the table, and players can move their characters around, interacting with various features. The Game Runner provides a live performance of characters, including voices, actions, and descriptions. Meanwhile, they are also available to help players understand the rules and how to interpret the information on their character sheet.

Give the Gift of Adventure

Beyond providing entertaining and enriching events and games, MDV hopes to create positive effects in the real world through charitable donations, scholarships, gift drives, and programs that promote philanthropy. We are committed to serving families regardless of their financial status. A portion of our proceeds is set aside to sponsor adventurers who need it.
